Installation in insulating glass

The easiest way to install a petWALK pet door is the assembly into double or triple laminated glazing. A new glass pane with the correct aperture and a firm frame around this opening has to be ordered at your window company or glazier.
The animal door is then simply “clamped” in place and is fully installed. A circumferential seal on both frames ensures an airtight and watertight connection.
The glass installation is characterized above all by a quick and clean installation and enables uncomplicated dismantling in the event of a change of residence

The dimensions of the opening for the “Medium” model are 38 ± 1 cm x 53 ± 1 cm.
For the “Large” model, the installation opening must be 48 ± 1 cm x 73 ± 1 cm.
It is important to ensure that there is at least 3 cm of space around the side edges of the opening to the edge of the component so that the frame of the petWALK pet door can be installed.
When installing glass, you need at least double-pane insulating glazing with ESG glass panes. The petWALK pet door is not suitable for installation in single glazing.
For technical reasons, some insulating glass manufacturers require a distance of at least 5 cm between the opening and the outer edge of the element (specified by the pane manufacturer for stability reasons). This results in a recommended minimum size of the glass element of 48 cm x 63 cm for the "Medium" model and 58 cm x 83 cm for the "Large" model.
If it is necessary for production reasons, the inner edges of the glass cutout may have an inner radius of up to 1 cm.
Alternatively, you can place the glass cutout in a corner of the glazing and insert a panel of glass thickness below and to the side
Position the door as close as possible to a glass strip. This way you can easily hide the connection cable behind it.

When installing in a hinged door, we recommend using a door contact . If the door is opened, the pet door will not function. If the pet door is opened, it will close immediately. This prevents a collision. A connection cable for a door contact is required for connection to the petWALK door.
In cases where an outstanding level of thermal insulation is desired, the frame of the animal door can be provided with additional insulation.
The standard door element is suitable for component thicknesses of up to 10 cm. Depending on the component thickness, please turn the threaded rods out of the outer frame to the appropriate extent so that you can grip the threaded rod with the screw. When you tighten the screw, the threaded rod turns back in by itself so that a secure hold is ensured.
For smaller glass widths, an alternative option is to install a transom (horizontal bar) just above the planned installation position of the door and a correspondingly smaller glass pane in the upper area. The petWALK pet door can then be installed in a cassette provided below the transom. It should be noted that there is still at least 30 mm of space around the side edges of the opening up to a limit of the component. The door would be installed in the same way, for example in a panel (an entrance door) with smooth surfaces.
